The secret’s finally out! On 1 December Andreas Gabalier was named as the official patron for EuroSkills 2020. Together with our own heroes Lisa Janisch, Fabian Gwiggner, Birgit Haberschrick, Melanie Seidl and Manfred Zink, he will start work immediately on the HeroSkills 2020 campaign to spread the skills message throughout Austria and beyond.
“Supporting EuroSkills 2020 in my homeland is something that’s very close to my heart,” explained the Austrian folk singer. “Anyone who learns a skill and practises their trade with passion, and can deliver top-level performances at competitions like this, is a hero as far as I’m concerned. That’s something that cannot be stressed enough, especially with the skill shortages we are seeing nowadays. An event such as EuroSkills makes it possible for skilled trades to cast off their dusty image and move forward into a modern, yet tradition-conscious future.”
Over the next two years, young experts in their fields will gradually be making their way around the country in their roles as EuroSkills 202 ambassadors and will be spreading precisely this unique spirit, which is what makes the competition so exceptional. A special HeroSkills trailer, which is sure to cause a few goose bumps, has been produced for this purpose.
