BMW Austria supports EuroSkills 2020 with nine vehicles
A fleet of EuroSkills 2020 SAVs are now elegantly cruising the roads of Austria. Thanks to a very special partnership between BMW Austria, the family business Gady and EuroSkills 2020, a total of nine pool cars have been made available to EuroSkills 2020 GmbH for official journeys – and BMW Austria has come on board the first European Skills Championships to be held in Austria as a silver sponsor.
As one of the newest silver sponsors, BMW Austria is joining forces with the family business Gady from southern Styria to support EuroSkills 2020 through a very special partnership: nine brand-new vehicles have been made available to the EuroSkills 2020 team for various official journeys. Six BMW X2 and three BMW X3 vehicles now are now elegantly cruising the roads throughout Austria – prominently embellished with the unmistakable EuroSkills 2020 brand logo.
The pool cars were officially handed over on 6 August at the biggest BMW dealer in southern Austria, Gady, during a presentation at their showroom in the town of Lieboch. At the event, the symbolic “Sponsorship Certificate” in recognition of BMW’s silver sponsorship of EuroSkills 2020 was signed by the supervisory board chairman and president of the Styrian Economic Chamber, Josef Herk, and the managing director of the BMW Austria GmbH, Christian Morawa.
Speaking at the launch, Christian Morawa said: “We are delighted to be supporting EuroSkills 2020 in Austria. We think it’s important to promote top talent and to pre-sent the attractiveness and diversity of the various automotive apprenticeships to a wider public. Here at the BMW Group in Austria, we know how important a sound education and training is for each individual member of staff as well as for a success-ful business. More than 480 automotive technicians in Austria are employed by the BMW sales and distribution organisation, for example. In addition, we are currently training 316 young automotive technicians and 71 chassis technicians.”
Yet it’s not just in the run-up to the event that BMW Austria is supporting EuroSkills 2020: the vehicles to be used by the competitors during the event in the Automobile Technology category will also be provided by BMW.
By becoming a sponsor, the BMW Group in Austria is highlighting its commitment in the country. The BMW Group’s biggest engine plant is located in the town of Steyr in Upper Austria, for example. Apart from manufacturing engines, the company in Steyr is involved in research and development relating to high-efficiency petrol and diesel engines. Important components for e-mobility are also manufactured there. In total, the BMW Group employs over 10,000 people in Austria and has invested the equivalent of half a million euros every month for more than 40 years.
“Without our sponsors’ support it would be impossible to make EuroSkills 2020 happen on such a massive scale”, says supervisory board chairman Josef Herk about the cooperation. “That’s why we’re particularly grateful to BMW Austria, and of course also to the traditional company Gady, for their cooperation in this magnificent event, which also demonstrates their commitment to supporting young, skilled workers in Austria and abroad.”
