Today, a heartfelt “EuroSkills thank you” goes to a true “sponsor dream team”, namely the two companies Hager & Sonepar, who are jointly supporting EuroSkills 2021 as Gold Sponsors.

With Hager and Sonepar, two true experts in the field of electrical engineering are involved as sponsors at EuroSkills 2021 and have been since 2018. Alexander Rupp, Managing Director of Hager tells of the company’s commitment: “We are delighted that Austria is getting another chance to host EuroSkills. Due to the new world/professional image, we all face great challenges in the coming years. The future activities of electrical engineers in the field of smart home, photovoltaics and e-mobility will additionally shape the job profile of young electricians.

For this reason, we need a strong next generation in Austria and throughout Europe. Hager is already enthusiastically supporting the Austrian national and state championships for electrical engineering and hopes that safe and successful, but above all unique, EuroSkills can take place in September. EuroSkills among friends in Austria would really be a nice reward for all the commitment and would strengthen our youth.”

Skilled workers as an essential success factor

DI (FH) Uwe Klingsbigl, Managing Director/President of Sonepar Austria, has a similar view: “Austria has been sending participants to the EuroSkills and WorldSkills vocational championships since 1961. The successes are impressive. At the last EuroSkills alone, 2018 in Budapest, Austria was runner-up with 4 gold, 14 silver and 3 bronze medals. Especially now, after the event had to take a year off, it seems particularly important to offer a forum to those top performers who ensure that we can look to the future with confidence. Important for the industries represented, important for Austria and Europe.

Excellent skilled workers are also essential for the success of Sonepar Austria: for our customers as well as for us in the company. EuroSkills 2021 brings 450 skilled workers from 31 European countries together in Graz – for the first time in Austria. We are proud to be able to support and equip this important international competition as a gold sponsor in the field of electrical engineering/electrical installations.”
