After months of preparations and an intense bidding phase, the capital of the Austrian province of Styria eventually won the jury over in a dramatic showdown against its rival Helsinki in Sweden’s Gothenburg. The tension was unbearable, the relief after the announcement of the success unbelievable. Under the motto of WE ARE SKILLS, work and communication in the bidding phase was goal-oriented, innovative and extremely enjoyable. The surprising and humorous performance of the Austrian team during the 10-minute presentation was convincing on all counts.
