Tour de Mur: full speed ahead on the road to 2020
A rather unconventional company outing led the Kemppi cycling team through Styria – what a sporting start along the river Mur on the Road to EuroSkills 2020!
The challenge? A distance of some 225 kilometres between the villages of Fohnsdorf and Bad Radkersburg – on a bike, at temperatures of about 30 degrees, and with a mixture of sunshine and heavy rain. “Challenge accepted”, was how the team from our gold sponsor, Kemppi, responded. Under the EuroSkills 2020 banner – or, in other words, suitably kitted out in EuroSkills 2020 sportswear – the 15 ladies and gentlemen set off on their bicycles to take part in this year’s “Tour de Mur” along the river Mur. This rather unconventional company outing was organised by Norbert Pfleger, Sales Director for Austria at the Finnish family business, who is also a keenly involved Skills supporter. The ride started in the village of Fohnsdorf on Friday morning. From there, the 15 participants cycled about 130 kilometres to St. Stefan and Leoben, and then back to Graz via Bruck an der Mur and Frohnleiten.
Challenge accepted – reward appreciated
As a little “reward”, the Kemppi cycling team were greeted at the end of the second day by the EuroSkills team – who were not empty-handed: the Kemppi staff members were given snacks, drinks and somewhere to sit down and rest outside the Gigasport store in Murkai. It was the perfect occasion to take a few pictures, which are now available for you in the gallery below. On the following day, the team cycled off again for the third stage: 95 kilometres through southern Styria to Bad Radkersburg, where the team’s success was duly celebrated with a big party with noodles and music.
The entire EuroSkills team would again like to say a massive “thank-you” to Kemppi for their dedication. We are delighted that our gold sponsor has made such a brilliant, sporting start on the Road to EuroSkills 2020 with us and we look forward to the next Tour de Mur next year!
